A LITTLE BIT ABOUT US

ABOUT OUR FAMILY

We are quite the busy foursome. AJ works for Brighton Fire Department, saving kittens from trees and being his usual hero self. Janelle is the bravest of the bunch, going on her 16th year teaching High School Art & Photography while raising 2 boys (insert wink here). Our young ranch hands, Austin & Sawyer, are obsessed with all things baseball, riding dirt bikes/go-karts, country music, catching frogs and anything else that makes a mess, gets them dirty or drives their parents crazy. On the weekends you can usually find us outside hanging out with the moos, at the baseball field or cruising Carter Lake.
The question we get asked the most is, "How did you get into Highlands?"

and the search for peaceful land where our boys could play baseball in the field and our dogs (Lucky and Blu) would have room to run free. We dreamt of grabbing fresh eggs from the coop in the morning and veggies from the garden for dinner. In 2022, we found our slice of paradise in the foothills of Loveland, Colorado.

Once we moved in, chicken math took over: 4 chickens turned into 70 which quickly turned into 2 pigs, a pregnant Hereford cow, her bull calf and the SWEETEST Highland bull, Sammy. Sammy is really where our Highland journey began. He stole our hearts with his goofy, gentle, easy going personality and adorable looks. Knowing Highlands were the direction we wanted to move the focus of our ranch, we took a deep dive into researching genetics, conformation, variations in sizes and healthy breeding practices for miniature Highlands. Over the past year, we have been adding beautiful Highlands and HighParks to our fold.
We have always told our boys to follow their passion and if you work hard while allowing yourself to dream big, anything is possible. So here we are, growing our small ranch and soaking in the lifestyle we love through raising these amazing mini and midsize Highlands... while having a bit of fun along the way!
